Expanding renewable energy sources is vital for attaining carbon neutrality by 2050. With the goal of having solar power generation account for around one-third of the entire power supply mix by fiscal year 2030, securing suitable land is seen as difficult in Japan, a country where flat land is relatively scarce. In this connection, Perovskite solar cells are garnering significant attention.

・Lower costs can be expected thanks to fewer manufacturing processes and the possibility of mass production.

AIST is working to improve durability and efficiency and lower costs on a priority basis. AIST Solutions is working to establish a business model that will allow it to prevail over international competition together with Murakami, who heads a research team with AIST’s Global Zero Emission Research Center, which in turn is in charge of a research group.
